Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was promoted to Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a range of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also was frequently with President Reagan to meetings together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
